December 1, 2013

NaNo is done.  My life is my own again.

Well, sort of.  There's the last novel to finish for the year.  Oh, and the newsletter.  The book that I need to finish editing.  Prepare for the next Vision: A Resource for Writers.  Finish cataloguing the rest of the pictures.

Yeah, this is going to be such a calm, restful month.

December 2, 2013

Today is catch up day.  Yes, including this.  Everything is behind at the moment, and I would like to get it all done so I don't feel like I'm perpetually behind on stuff.

I hope that the work on Connor of Northgate goes well.  I'm having a little trouble getting back into it, but I should do fine once I settle down.  Part of the problem right now is that I'm leaping all over the place with other things.

Editing on Journey to Winter is going okay, though.  So, with luck, it should all be good soon!

December 3, 2013

The cats have given me such a headache tonight that I think I'm going to quit early and go crawl into a hole somewhere.  It's not that they're being horribly bad, but Edmond won't leave me alone -- and as soon and Wind sees Edmond getting attention, he comes running.  I can't keep Zaphod's paws off the keyboard and Buffy is in a mood.

The computer is running slowly, too, which means it's doing a massive backup.  This is really my fault because of the thousands of pictures I'm tagging.  All those files have to be updated and then they're copied off into the back up.  Not to mention the trouble caused by all the ones I'm deleting.

Wrote and edited today, but not a whole lot on either.  I need to spend more time on the editing, but I'll get there.

Just dead right now.

and Edmond is back.

December 4, 2013

Have I mentioned how much I completely HATE the cold yet this year?  Well if I have, I haven't said it enough.  And it is cold here.  And going to get worse.  Ugh.

Writing and editing is going fine.  I'm not pushing on either of them.  The picture tagging is going very well.  I should be done with the initial 111k in a couple days.  Then I'll have more to add in, but it won't be too bad.  I hope.

That's it.  Too cold to think.

December 5, 2013

cold, cold cold.

I'm curled up in blankets.  It's not helping a lot the colder it gets.  And it's going to be worse tomorrow.

Ugh.  Hate this stuff. The cats hate this stuff.  Blah.

It's not supposed to get this cold this early in winter!  Isn't there some kind of law?

December 6, 2013

Cold.

I don't think I need to say anything else.

December 7, 2013

Cold.  Have I mentioned cold?

I spend a good part of today (and part of yesterday) at Russ's house reading and doing some writing on my Nook.  Since I can sync it with Dropbox, it was easy to get it saved and then pasted over to the proper spot in the Scrivener file.  I didn't write much more than 1k.  I haven't for a few days.

We might get snow tonight and slightly warmer weather tomorrow.  I'm just going to curl up in bed tonight and hope for the best tomorrow.  In a couple days it will be back in the 20's -- and yes, that is a huge improvement.

December 8, 2013

No, it's not any better.  Ugh.  another cold day tomorrow.  Then up to the 20's which should help.

Ugh. Still.

December 9, 2013

Another cold day, but we have done something to conquer it -- at least in the area of my desk.  it was 44f here this morning when I got up.  It's now 62f.  We bought a new heater.  It's on one side of the desk pointed at me and the other is on the other side pointed at me.

Warmth. Finally, really warmth.  I still have a blanket and warm clothes on, but it is such an improvement I almost hate to leave and go to bed.

It's going to be warmer tomorrow anyway, but still -- this is so helpful.  I actually got work done today.

Oh, and I crossed the one million mark in writing for the year.

So life is good.

December 10, 2013

I brought out some of the holiday stuff today.  I can't say it as a good idea.  I made an awful mess and it's going to take days to straighten stuff out.

Writing is going well. The temp today was wonderful in here, but we are going to get hit by massive cold here tomorrow again.  Then we go back to 'warm' in a relative sort of way.

That's it.  I'm really tired tonight.  I'm going to do some reading and get to sleep.

December 11, 2013

Cold, cold, cold.  Really bad start to winter, guys.

Oh wait, it's not even officially winter yet.

Eeek.

December 12, 2013

I got up today to find that my older heater wasn't working.  This did not put me in a good mood.  I pounded it on the floor.  I yelled at it.  Nothing.  I pounded it again and yelled louder.

And now it's kicking out better heat than it has in a week.  Well, okay then.

Other than that, really not a lot going on here today.  Waiting to get paid, which has been a slight problem this month.  I hope they get it cleared up.

Back to writing.  Yay!

December 13, 2013

Hard to believe how close it is to the end of the year.  Wow.  I wonder if I should be worried about getting things done?  The edits on Journey to Winter are taking longer than I expected, and the changes in Connor of Northgate are making writing it a bit more trouble.

But really -- it's not going too badly.  I just need to start focusing on some stuff. The catalog of pictures is going very well, at least.  I'll be doing the FD91 disks soon.  That should be interesting.

And that's about it.  Work, work, work.

December 14, 2013

Yeah, really.  Need to get stuff done.

The weather keeps going up and down, so you don't know if it's going to be reasonable or not.  Right now, reasonable means anywhere from 20f and up.  I'm not asking for a lot.

I'm having a writing slow down when I least need it, too.  Ugh.  But I'll get there.

Back to work.

December 15, 2013

Half way through the month.  Yay!  and Ugh!

I have started copying the FD91 disks.  This is a slow, slow process and I probably should have waited for 2014 to do it and not let it cut into my writing time.  But hey, what's life without a challenge?  Besides, it's allowed me to sit down and do some notecards for Connor of Northgate, which turned out to be exactly what I needed.

I found the missing piece to that story and I just have to figure out what the piece means.  Myths are so much fun.  You get to twist and turn them in whatever way you need.

Also, my father's 87th birthday.

December 16, 2013

Right.  More disks.  And more disks.

I'll have them done eventually.  I might not be sane by then, though.

Interesting to see what was going on 14 years ago, though.

I haven't found the disks for a few of the months which is annoying, but you know . . . I don't think I'm going to look too hard for a while. They'll turn up.  It'll give me something to do . . . later.

Right now, I just want to get all this done.

And the writing.  Right.  Get that done, too.

December 17, 2013

The weather is going to change soon, but for the moment, this is rather nice.  I am not looking forward to the rest of winter.

So, about a week until Christmas.  I should have had more fun decorating and stuff.  Oh well.  Now I'm just worried about getting everything done by the end of the year.

December 18, 2013

I am getting very close to having Journey to Winter done.  Yay!  This last bit is harder than I expected, but I'll get it worked out right.  It's needed a lot of cutting, but that's okay.  I'm happy with it.

But a lot of work!

December 19, 2013

I thought I would have the novel done tonight, but Journey To Winter continues to give me odd problems.  This is the last big edit, though.  After this I'll be doing a final grammar check and then formatting.  I should still have time to get it all done before the end of the month.

Crazy how this is going.  I really didn't expect it to be this much trouble.

December 20, 2013

Today Russ and I did some work on updating or DVD list since we kept getting the 'do we have that on DVD?' problem.

Lot more stuff there than I expected.  Russ has been over at his place and sending me lists that I add into the master list here.  Okay.  He has a lot over there!  But there's still a ton of stuff here to add in, too!  EEEK!

Other than that, been an odd day.  Got the next section of Surviving Elsewhere done.  Enjoyable story.  That was entry #22.  Yay!  But it took me a bit to get it written for some reason.  My brain kept freezing on me.

Yeah, I can blame it on the cold, right?

Running out of time here, though.  Best get back to work.

December 21, 2013

Journey to Winter is very nearly done and ready to go up.  I am very happy about that since I worried I wouldn't get it done in time.

On the other hand, I fell outside PetSmart tonight and now I really ache, especially my left leg.  This is making concentration very hard.   I can't imagine what sleep is going to be like.  Ack.

Just ack.

December 22, 2013

Going to extreme cold again, and then it will warm up for the next couple days.  Tomorrow is going to be hell, though.

Ugh.

I am very sore.  My legs really hurt.

I am doing the last reading of Journey to Winter.  I think I'll be done tomorrow.

December 23, 2013

It's getting cold.  I'm still sore from the fall.  The weather is just awful!

I don't have enough articles for the next issue of Vision.  Ugh.  This is going to be hard!

December 24, 2013

We ran out and got toys for the kitties today.  Yay!  But it's still pretty cold around here.  And I'm still pretty miserable.

I published Journey To Winter, though.  Yay!  My last book of the year.

December 25, 2013

We've had a nice Christmas.  And now I'm very, very tired.  LOL

The cats really loved their new toys and their new dishes.  This is going to be much nicer.  I got a great Pooh Bear!  And book and Nook card for more books.  And a lovely WARM sweatshirt with kitties on it.

It was funny watching the cats go nuts with their toys, though.  And they are all sound asleep now.  Pretty funny.

That's it.  Nice day!

December 26, 2018

Much nicer weather again.  I feel so much better when it's warm.  The problem is that it won't stay that way.

I am still bruised and sore and annoyed about that part, though.  And Russ is having an awful eye problem.

But still, warm.  That counts for something.

December 27, 2013

Even better weather.  It won't stay, though.

I am getting things cleared off the list of MUST BE DONE before the end of the year.  My last book is published.  I'm getting Vision pulled together.  I have ideas for Forward Motion, which is nice.

I have posted my last Flash Friday of the year, too.  And done the final newsletter for DAZ.

I just have more Vision and the novel to finish.

December 28, 2013

The day started great.  Temps up in the 60's!  WOW

And then the cold front moved in.  Yeah, not so pleasant and the winds were pretty amazing.  The temp just kept dropping and dropping, though.  Unpleasant change, and bad for sudden headaches.

Ugh.  Need to get stuff done.

December 29, 2013

I got a good amount of Vision done today.  Yay.  Just trying to get the last little bits lined up.  What else?  It's VERY cold again.  0f right now.  Supposed to warm up tomorrow to 22f, at least.  Right now, I just want to go crawl into somewhere warm.

Which I might do.  It would be nice to be warm again.

Ugh.  It's going to be a long winter.

December 30, 2013

AAAAIIIIEEE!

Yes, trying to get things done.  Tonight I'll write on Connor of Northgate and then after midnight I'll finish the book.  My word total should be around 1,030,000 words for the year.

15 publications, plus two issues of Vision.

All in all, not bad.

December 31, 2013

I got Vision done and the last of my pictures cataloged: 123,123 digital pictures.  Pretty funny, really.

Russ and I watched shows.  Very enjoyable, quiet evening.  But cold.  And the weather is going to get worse.  Blah.

Let's hope 2014 goes better.
