April 1, 2014

Welcome to April.

We had a massive windstorm last night.  I think we're lucky that the trees are all standing still.  I suspect that if we'd had a wet spring, with the ground soggy, a lot of trees would have gone down last night.

But the weather change has again brought the usual headaches.  I hope we get real spring soon, and maybe some steady to warmer weather.

That's about it for today.

April 2, 2014

Today is one of those days where I just can't seem to sit down at the desk for long.  I'm up and down and picking stuff up (always a good thing around here), back to the computer for a few more hundred words, back up.  Washing clothes and cleaning up the back rooms a bit -- they get closed up during the winter and this year they got stacked with boxes and stuff for no good reason.

We should be having spring clean up here soon, I think. That's where the city picks up all kinds of stuff you put out.  Very helpful.  I want to clean my porch off.  I have a great chair for out there and it would be fun to sit and read or write.

Yeah, thinking about spring.

We won't talk about the winter weather warning for tomorrow.

April 3, 2014

Rain sleet sleet sleet rain snow

Yeah, this is just fun.  I hope Russ doesn't have trouble driving home tonight.

I'm working on the Surviving Elsewhere post for this week.  It's going well.  I have enjoyed working at the 1k a week stuff, but it is hard some times.  I know what I want here, but my head is not entirely around it.  I'm just glad I remembered it was Thursday.

We are supposed to get snow tonight.  We'll see.  It wouldn't hurt, especially since it's supposed to be up to 51f on Saturday.  Yeah, a two day winter?  I can live with that.

April 4, 2014

Yesterday evening Russ came home with Princess Oliva FeyFey Pendragon Dustbunny!

Oh my!

She is, by far, the most snuggle me puppy I've ever seen.  The cats are getting a bit better about her today.  Wind and Buffy have taken up residence in the back of the house.  The boys are better about her.

And believe me, that's all the news I have for now!

April 5, 2014

Dust bunny went to the vet today and came out of it pretty well.  She had some eye stuff, but that's almost cleared up already. And she's been playing like mad tonight.

Yes, this has somewhat affected my writing.  That's okay. We're having a good time but I'm exhausted.  Just haven't slept well the last few nights.

That's it tonight.  Started the little fantasy Dustbunny Tales so I need to get to at least 500 words on it.  After that, I might just crawl into bed and sleep.

April 6, 2014

Well this has certainly been an odd weekend!  Puppies.  Royalty checks.  New story.  House Cleaning.

Yeah, odd.

The snow is gone.  It's raining tonight.  We can stand some rain.

That's it.  Got to go.  Things to do!

April 7, 2014

The cats have -- or rather had -- two beds. They rarely used either, and I had started tossing all the cat toys into one of them.  Dustbunny has taken over both of them and has moved some toys to the other bed, too.  it's very cute.

But that's the high point of the day.  I've been miserably ill.  I hope this clears up fast.  Yuck.

April 8, 2014

I think I must have slept about 16 hours yesterday.  And I am still exhausted.  I want to go to bed, but I have clothes in the wash.

I've barely reached 1k in writing today, too.  The stories are going fine, but the brain just isn't connecting well.  A few lines here, a few more lines there.  A little bit more.  Eventually something will come out of it all.

However, editing on In the Service of the Queen is finally going very well. This is good since I would like to release the book this month.  I better start seriously looking at doing a cover.

April 9, 2014

Dusty and I walked all the way around the block today.  She only argued with me at a couple spots.  So that's going well.  I cannot find the proper brush for her, though, which is driving me nuts.  I'll have to buy a new one.

Writing is up and down up and down.  Much like my back.  Ugh.  I'm hoping the extra walking is going to help there.   For both the writing and the back.

We are up to 81f!  Heaters are off!  Life is good!

April 10, 2014

She's been here a week.  Yay!

The big news today is that we bought her some new toys.  Amazingly, she really likes them, too.

Yeah, really.  That's it.

April 11, 2014

Wow am I tired.  Not sure why, but it's really been hitting me hard today.  A shame, because I thought I was going to get a lot of stuff done, but I never really got going on anything.

Probably have an early night to bed and just try to get caught up on the house and stuff tomorrow.

I may have a cover for In the Service of the Queen, though.  That's important.  Now to finish editing it.

April 12, 2014

We had lovely weather today.  It got up into the 80's!  The puppy got a bit hot on her walk so that might not be good, but otherwise we did fine.  I got a lot of stuff done around the house and really, it was an enjoyable day.  Writing even picked up a bit, though I'm not pushing it.

Russ has the week off from work.  He really needs it, too!

April 13, 2014

This is crazy.  Just crazy.  80's yesterday and snow today.  This is just way too insane, even for me.

Did get some good pictures, though.

But still. . . .

April 14, 2014

The snow is almost all gone.  It's only in the 40's today and it is going to get cold the next couple nights.  We might get snow on Wednesday night. Other than that, nothing bad.  Really.

Puppy went to the doctor today because she wasn't acting well, but she's much better now.

I thought my Sony camera had died yesterday but it was simply two dead batteries.  That was scary.

Writing is blah, but it will pick up.

April 15, 2014

Fluffy puppy isn't quite as fluffy now.  I brush her several times a day, but she tends to roll around a lot.  The fur doesn't mat much, which is good, but it's impossible to keep her looking fluffy.

We might have her shaved down for the summer, too.

The cats are less upset about her, too. So on that end, things are good.

We'll just ignore everything else.

April 16, 2014

I am almost done with the editing on In the Service of the Queen.

I feared it would take longer, so it's good to find myself down to the last few pages with plenty of 'month' left.  Yay!  Something going right!

Russ is teaching a class tonight.

Yes, that's all my news for the day.  Back to work.

April 17, 2014

Today was the boy's day!  They're 8 now.  Such cute guys.  And they are getting much better about the puppy.  I can't say Buffy is, though.  We're working on it, though.

Not a bad day.  Not much done, but still, better than it has been!

April 18, 2014

I got the newsletter done today.  Done and off, so I don't have work this weekend. That's nice.

I wish the stories were falling together better, but it's still going okay.  Just a little bit here and a little bit there.

April 19, 2014

We took our usual Easter trip a day early this year and went to DeSoto Wildlife Refuge.  There wasn't much out, but it was fun to look around and see stuff.  I spend far too much time in front of this computer, though I have been doing a lot of walks with fluff a dog lately.  I hope that helps in the long run.

Don't ask.

April 20, 2014

We went up to visit Russ's brother and sister-in-law in South Dakota today.  Nice trip and great dinner.  We stayed later than we should have, but it was a nice drive home, even in the dark.

Lucky for me that I had gotten my writing done early, such as it is.  I need to get something connected in my head and get things done.  This is getting silly.

April  21, 2014

Ugh.  The weather is much nicer, but I am almost constantly cold.  I had to go crawl into bed under the covers this afternoon.  I don't get what this is all about, but at least it was nice and cozy there.

I've been jabbing at stories all night.  I at least have my required 1k, but it would be nice if something would pick up again and let me really write.

Still, getting things done so I shouldn't complain too much.

April 22, 2014

Got a lot of odd things done today.  Yay!  Not so much on writing yet, but I'm getting there.  I am still trying to come up with a good cover for my book, though.  This is annoying.  The novel is done and ready to go if I could just make this last step.

That's about it for today.

April 23, 2014

This has been a very odd, fast month.  I'm still trying to get some of the basics done.  Like that book I need to publish this month.  If I could decide on a cover, I might have a chance.

Writing is back to jumping around from piece to piece, but at least it's moving.

And the weather isn't half bad, either.

April 24, 2014

I am happy to see spring again.  It's put me in a better mood, I think.  Though it has not done much for my writing yet.  I'm working up to that part.

The cats are certainly happier about the weather.  They're still not sure about the dog.  Buffy hisses and growls and Edmond just walks up to her and yells at her.

All in all, though, it's not too bad!

April 25, 2014

I seem to have hurt my hip.  Ugh.  Not what I need since I like to take the puppy out at least twice a day.  I hope this clears up fast.

And I have a cover I like for In The Service of the Queen.  This means that the book will be released in the next couple days.  Finally!  This has been insane, but I think I have a better idea of covers in general now.  In fact, so much so that I want to redo a lot of them.

Which I might.  We'll see!

april 26, 2014

The new book is out!  Yay!  I really thought I was going to miss this one.  But there it is, and I love the cover.  I'm going to do more like this -- with a few chosen objects to convey the idea of the story, rather than trying for a scene or even people.

Well, we'll see how it goes when I get to the next one.

I am very happy to have this done, though.  I was worried about getting this one out.

April 27, 2014

Wow, bad weather out there.  We have pretty calm stuff here -- a bit of thunderstorms, but nothing drastic.

I'm working my way towards the end of Octavian of Keris Station.  It'll be 60k and some.  Not sure how far it will go, but I don't expect to get as far as 70k.

That's about it.  Getting stuff done.  That's about all.

April 28, 2014

Cold here today.  Not as bad as west of us where they have ice and maybe snow, but cold enough.  I don't like this weather.  I want a nice, gentle warmth.  I don't think that's asking for much.

Worked on updating Vision today.  I'm going to try and do that every Monday until I get all the back issues copied over.  If I remember.  My mind is just not holding on to this stuff as well as it should.

We saw a lovely heron and an egret at our local pond tonight.  Yay!

Writing, writing -- not getting far, but I'm working at it.

And that's it.  Going back to work now!

April 29, 2014

Weather is cold -- not horrible, but still colder than I want.  And I feel like I have the flu or something.  This is just annoying.

Trying to get work stuff done.  A bit of writing.  Then crawl back into bed.

Ugh.  Hope I feel better soon.

April 30, 2014

It feels like it's going to snow.

It's still 11 degrees above freezing, but even so, this is petty cold for the last day of April.  We've had rain for the last few days which is okay.  We've been dry for a long time.  But I don't think this is really going to be enough.  The wind chill is 35f, so it is possible we'd see a few snow flakes.

I'm not going to look.

I worked on ACOA stuff today and figured a couple more things out about the Joomla! site.  It's going well, really.

And that's it for April.
