February 1, 2014

No, I can't say my attitude is any better for a new month.

I am getting the newsletter done, though. Good to get it finished up, even though I don't like to work on the weekends.  But then again, what else am I going to do?  Well, write, of course.  And I've gotten part of that done.

I still need to come up with something for this month's release.  It might be In the Service of the Queen, but I don't know.  We'll see if it keeps moving along nicely.  Like the story, which is always helpful.

And that's it.  Need to get stuff done.  Need to find something to entertain myself, too.  Not even the cats are around today, lazy little creatures.

Though maybe I should go nap with them?

February 2, 2014

I'm working on In the Service of the Queen for my February release.  This is going to be a lot of work, but I think I can get it done in time.  I have found there is a lot less to fix on it than I had expected.  Yay!

Went for a nice ride to Bacon Creek Part today.  I can't wait for things to liven up a bit and see more animals and stuff again.  Spring.  I can't wait for spring.

February 3, 2014

Weather goes up, weather goes down.  We have virtually no snow, but we keep getting hit by horrible cold.  I just have to remind myself that there is only about one more month of this left.  Things should start getting better in March.

But will they?

Today I started the outline to Jami, a book related to the Silky story.  This should be interesting.

February 4, 2014

I have various projects going now.  Bunny is waiting for the final edit -- I need it to sit for a few weeks so I can get some distance and I'm better able to actually see what's there, rather than what I think is there.  The others are all moving along fine.  Octavian is odd -- 500 or so words a day, and I think it's interesting, but . . . just needs to pick up some excitement.  I can do that.

Jami?  The outline is already giving me trouble.  We'll see.

In the Service of the Queen is my major work right now.  It's going very well, so I'm good.

February 5, 2014

More work.  More weather.  We have some snow on the ground, but not much. This isn't going to help the drought.

I need a break from this work stuff.  It's starting to annoy me.  Not sure what I would do, though.  Winter limits a lot of options.

February 6, 2014

I played around with photos for a while today. That was kind of fun.  I need to start scanning the prints.  That should be fun and may just be the kind of thing I need right now.

I decided In the Service of the Queen will not be my February release.  I don't want to rush the novel, even though I think it's going very well.  It'll move up to April.

February is going to be a novelette called Istavia.  Fantasy.  It shouldn't take too much to get this one in shape.  Right?

February 7, 2014

I think Istavia must be a good choice.  I fell right into the story, found some of the problems, worked things out -- I'm enjoying it.  Or maybe I should just start focusing on shorter works because the novels are driving me crazy?

Nah.

Anyway, I think I'll have the story ready to go in a day or so.  This is a bit different for me.  I hope people enjoy it.

February 8, 2014

Today I worked on the cover to Istavia.  I think I like it.  The editing is done, but it needs to sit for a couple days.  I'm happy with it, though.  Nice release for February.

Nothing else really to say.  Lots of writing to get done today if I'm going to keep up my 3k a day run.  That's been interesting, too.  500 on Jami, 500 on Octavian and 2k on In the Service of the Queen.  All of them go a bit over that amount, but I keep it pretty close.

I'm not happy with Jami, though.  I think I need a different story.  We'll see.

February 9, 2014

Someone turn my brain off.  This headache stuff has got to stop.  I can barely get anything done. The cold is not helping, of course.  Can we have spring now?

February 10, 2014

I should have Istavia done and up today.  Or maybe tomorrow.  It's too cold to think again, and I'm sitting here at the desk in my jacket.  Ugh.  I got chilled the other day and I feel as though I haven't warmed up yet.

Getting work done.  Then crawling off into warm bed.

Ugh.

February 11, 2014

It's a bit warmer today.  It's going to be even better over the next few days, unless it all goes crazy again.  I am looking forward to better weather.  40's!  Yay!

I need to start getting things done around the house again.  Winter is bad for me.  I crawl into the blankets at my chair and I don't want to get up for anything.  I'm not fond of could.

I do force myself to keep writing, though.  That's gone well.  I think I have an entirely new plan for the Jami outline.  It will include some of the stuff I've already worked out, but I'll be adding new things.

And that's it.  Time to get back to work!

February 12, 2014

I am ready for a vacation.  Actually, I've been ready for one for several years, but I think it's starting to all add up.  Zette go Boom soon if she doesn't get out soon.  Get away from home and cats and computer.

But not for long.  Just away to see things again.

The writing is going fine.  I think I have worked out my problem with the Jami outline and I'm redoing it. Yay.  I made notes for In the Service of the Queen and that's going very well.  I think I'll do a science fiction novel next.  Heavy on fantasy this start of the year.

But it's warmer today.  Life is good.  I can get things done.

And think about a vacation.  Mountains this year, I hope.

February 13, 2014

Warmth!  Yes, Warmth!  it's up to 71f here in my office area!  YAY!

Last night I watched all three episodes of Sherlock Season Three.  I might be on an overload.

Other than that, things are about the same.

Except it's warm.

(Snow tomorrow)

February 14, 2014

Happy Valentine's Day.

Went for a lovely little ride tonight.  Saw geese and hawks -- spring is coming!  Yay!

Writing is going well.  Reading is even going well.  Photography is giving me fits.  I need to spend more time with the Canon T4i.  And I may need to get a better lens for it.  This is going to be an expensive camera by the time I'm done.

Are we ever really done?

February 15, 2014

Odd day, ending with what appears to be an allergy attack.  Or maybe an oncoming cold.  I think allergy, though.

I played with my Canon Ti4 today.  Really played with it, which I have never done in the year I've owned it.  Was quite fun, but I need more things to take pictures of.  Cats have been cooperative, but I think Edmond is going to bite the camera soon.  And I really don't want to think about what Buffy will do.

February 16, 2014

Poor Russ has been miserably ill all day today.  He's feeling a bit better tonight, so that's good.  I hope he's pretty much recovered by morning.

We're supposed to have ice tonight, but I haven't seen any of it yet, so I think it's going to miss us again.

And that's it.  I've been fighting a headache, but getting a few things done.

February 17, 2014

This was one of those days where nothing really connected and got going.  Russ is at least feeling better, so that's good.  Beyond that, it as a warm day.  I got some work done.  But over all, really nothing to write about.

February 18, 2014

I think Russ is feeling better today.  He was last night.  He's next door working, though, so I'm not entirely sure.  I should hear from him soon.

I'm feeling off.  I hope I'm not coming down with what he had.

Tomorrow my new lens arrives.  Yay!  I hope it works better than the one I have.  It'll be fun playing with it.

We got up to 60f here today.  This is the strangest winter I've ever seen.  Not even enough snow to get some icicles -- I don't remember a year when I didn't at least have those.  Looks bad for the drought.

February 19, 2014

The new lens arrived today:  Sigma 70-300.  I LOVE it.  Had a nice field test with it, too.  Browns Lake and at least a dozen bald eagles out on the ice.  Wow.  That was . . .  incredible.

Other than that -- not a lot going on.  The Jami outline may finally be coming together.  I'm still not pushing it, though.  I don't need it until November.

Other than that, a better day over all. Russ is feeling much better.  yay!

February 20, 2014

Closing in on the end of the month.  I'm doing okay.  Do wish the weather was better today (turned cold and very WINDY), but still, not bad.  I can't wait to take the lens out again, though.  Come on spring!

Writing is going well.  Outline for Jami is moving along.  Octavian of Keris Station is doing fine, too.  Almost done with the rewrite of In the Service of the Queen.  Then it sits while I do the final edit of Beware the Wrath of Bunny Hopper which I'll release in March.  Looking good so far!

February 21, 2014

Lunch today tried to kill me.  Just wasn't feeling well.  I hope it doesn't get worse.  I've been up and down for days now.

On the good news, my second birthday present arrived today -- a GPS unit for my Canon.  I am now pretty much set.  And it worked right out of the box -- didn't even look at the instructions.  Just put it on the camera and did some shots.

Writing is good, too.  So even though I'm not feeling great, it is a good day.

February 22, 2014

Odd day.  Spent what time I wasn't writing hunting up lost pictures on cds and dvds.  Found about 8000 of them, which should be pretty much the last of the missing pictures.

Yeah.  Now I have to tag them.

We took a quick trip down to a park south of us and found geese.  Very cooperative geese.  it was lots of fun.  Love the new lens and the GPS tagging for the camera.  I'm ready for some serious photography again.

Also, in the found stuff, was the great 1999 vacation we took -- Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Rocky Mountain National Park.  The digital camera of that time didn't take very large pictures.  I want to repeat the trip.  LOL

February 23, 2014

I am on the last line of a novel and I can't get it right.

You have no idea what frustration is until you are at that point and can't figure out a witty little closing line.  Come on brain.  Write something.

Though I can leave it for now.  The book will still go through another edit in a few weeks.  Maybe by then something will leap out at me.  Right?

Ugh.

But otherwise, did okay!  LOL

February 24, 2014

Okay, we're nearly done with the month.  I'm actually doing pretty much okay on stuff that absolutely HAS to be done, but I'm falling behind on a few other things.

Still, not bad.  I can handle this.

I think my next novel rework is going to be Devlin 3: Medusan Mutation.

And it is snowing.  Not a lot, but enough to look pretty at least.  So this is good.

February 25, 2014

Cold again.  Ugh.  I thought we were inching our way up to spring, but apparently not.

I'm staying bundled up at my computer and trying not to growl at everything.

Medusan Mutation is giving me more trouble than I expected.  I'll just keep pushing through it, though.  My brain should find the right key to it soon.

February 26, 2014

We have a wind chill advisory again.  It'll hit tonight and go to about 9:00 am tomorrow.  This is annoying, of course, but maybe it will be the last one.  March is almost here.  Spring.  Right?

Right.  I'll believe that one.

Having trouble connecting with writing the last couple days, but I have faith that will come through soon.  I've done pretty well so far this year.  So, I guess I'll get back to it.

February 27, 2014

I think I'm going to do a new zoo site.

I need a new project, right?  of course I do.  And this should be fun as long as I don't get too crazy.  (Oh yeah, that's going to stop me.)  I want to do groups, descriptions, and of course pictures.  I think I'll do a book when I'm done.

Yeah, this could be fun.

Yes, I do have odd ideas of fun.

Writing is going well, too.  LOL

I'm actually kind of excited about this.  Which is insane.  I have 11,924 pictures from the zoo. This is not going to be a quick project.

February 28, 2014

End of the month.  Much craziness as I try to get everything done and ready for March.  I have not started my new project.  I want to, but I don't dare before I get everything else done.

I've done better than I expected, to be honest.

We're getting hit by bad weather.  And Russ has to drive to Omaha tomorrow to work.  I don't like this at all.  Aside from it being Saturday, and he won't get paid for the work, we're also having a winter weather advisory AND a wind chill advisory.

This is stupid because he could do the work from home.   He's not happy and I'm going to be worried all day.  Not a good combination for either of us.
