June 1, 2014

Welcome to June.

I started a new outline today.  It's for the sequel to Muse, and it's called Amusing Grace.  I don't quite have the humor for it yet, but little bits and pieces are starting to come to me.

Russ starts his new job on Thursday.  I am thinking good thoughts.

June 2, 2014

We apparently finally have a working Internet.  This is good.  I can get this journal uploaded and get to work on other things I've had to let slide.  I am considering it a little vacation.

The new outline is going fine.  The other work, not so great.  But I'll get there.

June 3, 2014

We are having odd internet problems.  It will clear up soon.  Hard to get on, though.

June 4, 2014

Okay, things are a bit better, I think.  At least with the Internet.  Everything else is crazy.

I still need to go over Medusan Mutation one more time, but it's about ready.  I'm editing the novel for July -- Summerfield 2 -- which is going very well, too.

I don't think I trust it.

June 5, 2014

Russ's first day at the new job!  YAY!  I hope it works out well for him.  I think we could both use the calm.

I am trying to do an outline and the story is not coming to me.  I can see odd little bits and pieces, but . . . no story.  This is annoying.

But the editing is still going well.

June 6, 2014

We've been having a lot of rain.  Not bad storms like elsewhere, and we could sure use the rain for a change.  So it has been nice.  A bit humid when the sun comes out, though.  And the house is damp.  That's annoying.

I think I got the three covers for the Devlin books ready to go up.  Updated the covers so they're all the same design.  Also have edit updates for Farewell to Summer.  So, when I get Medusan up, I'll do all the updates that I have for the set.

That's it.

June 7, 2014

Had a great trip down to DeSoto Wildlife Refuge today.  Lovely eagle that kept flying right over me.  Can't get much better than that.

There was a lot of damage to the refuge from the storm, though.  Most of it was downed trees that were already dead from the flood a few years ago.  Amazing to see all of the broken branches and fallen trees.

There was also far more water than usual.

Nice trip, except the car started making really odd sounds.  Cars don't like to take me places I want to go.  I've started worrying every time we go somewhere.

June 8, 2014

Getting away yesterday obviously helped me, despite worries about the car.  Today I got all kinds of things done, including editing and working on a new outline, plus the DAZ stuff.  Yay!  I hope it carries over!

The Devlin books will be up soon.  I think I might as well do another edit of Devlin 1 since Devlin 2 has been re-edited. Then all three can go up at the same time.  I don't think it will take me too long to get the book edited one more time.  I am sure there are some typos and such in it to clean up.

Maybe that should be my real plan for this year.  Edit for typos on stuff that's already up.

We'll see.

June 9, 2014

I am very close to releasing the third Devlin book.  I'm doing an edit of D1 right now, and that's going okay.  Not a lot to fix, I'm glad to say.  A couple lines where I'm sure it made sense at the time.  Not so much now.

That's about all that's going on in my world, though.  Pretty quiet.  And cold.  What strange weather we're having.  It never got over 63 today, as far as I can tell.

June 10, 2014

Warmer today.  Nice to feel comfortable.  But boy have I been tired lately again.  However, when I get to bed, I can't sleep well. That's annoying.

Otherwise, things are going well enough.  Just need to press forward and get more done.

June 11, 2014

I would like to think that I'm going to get stuff done this year.  Really.  I know, it's already almost half way through 2014, but I still have hope for it.  I'm not sure why.

The writing is going okay. The editing is going very well.  The outlines -- not so much.  Ugh.

June 12, 2014

We have been having an incredible amount of good weather lately.  Really nice, good weather.  No AC on.  Doors and windows open.  Rain.  The grass is green for the first time in a couple years.

It's been pretty nice.  Not much in bugs, either, though they're bound to start hitting soon.  By July it will be hot.  But this is the nicest June I remember in years.

June 13, 2014

And another nice day.  We went out to Stone State Park tonight and it was very nice -- hardly anyone around.  I did a bit of a walk on a trail.  I'm going to take more of it next time.  I just didn't want Russ to worry tonight when I didn't come right back.

Other than that, not a lot going on.  Getting Devlin 3 ready for publication.  Yay!

June 14, 2014

And there it is!  Published sometime after midnight (it's about 2 am now) and the other two in the series are updated.  Life is good!

Glad to have this one done.  And I love the cover.  Makes me feel better about the whole writing stuff.

Yeah, but what am I going to work on next?

June 15, 2014

I am having a hard time concentrating on stories.  I need to really decide what I am going to do in July for the July NaNo thing.  I enjoy that sort of stuff, but this is driving me nuts.  I keep toying with outlines and not getting very far on anything.

Ugh.  Where is my writing brain?

June 16, 2014

There is some bad weather out there in Nebraska lately.   We've really been hit as a state, but things are not so bad here.  We've gotten a hellish amount of rain, but no flooding in my area.

The constant thunderstorms are really weird, though.

June 17, 2014

Storms, storms and more storms.  Flooding up in the North Sioux area (north of South Sioux, which is where I live).  The Missouri River is up high again, too.  Ugh.

In writing. . .  I am getting ideas for stuff.  Right now I'm doing an outline for the next Resurrection book (sf) and letting some other stuff just bounce around in my head.  I can see where it's going, but I don't have it all put together yet.

June 18, 2014

Rain and storms, rain and storms.  That's about all that's going on here right now.  The house is damp and uncomfortable, though.  I hope something dries out soon.

Story stuff is going slowly but okay.  Editing is going very, very well.  I'm having fun with that.

I think I have an idea for the July NaNo, too.  I hope so.  I might not have an outline, but it could be fun to just run with a story this year.  Really, just let myself write and have fun for a few weeks.

I'm seriously considering it.

June 19, 2014

Still odd weather, but I'm getting used to it.

I'm editing Resurrection: Chance and Change, which is the first book in an sf series.  I'm also outlining the next book, Resurrection: Rebellion and Remembrance.  Since some of the stuff has to link in with other things going on in other IWC books, I'm trying to do a timeline and get it all dropped in their properly.

Oddly, it seems to be working.

Nice when stories cooperate.

June 20, 2014

Tonight Russ told me we're going to Squaw Creek for our anniversary!  My favorite wildlife refuge!

Yay!

Must get things ready to go.  Must not go too crazy.  Must make certain the cameras are ready.  Yay!

June 21, 2014

Yay!  We did it!  Russ rented a car and we drove down. Staying in St. Joe over night and then back to the refuge in the morning.  So far, it's been wonderful.  They'd drained a good part of the refuge wetlands (that surprised me) so we didn't have some of the stuff I expected, but it was still lovely.

Up early tomorrow and back to it!  Yay!

June 22, 2014

35th Anniversary.  Lovely day despite a few odd problems like the visor on my side of the car breaking (had to tape it up) and some really torrential rain when we headed back north.  But the refuge was lovely.  Egrets everywhere.  Herons everywhere.  a truly wonderful Golden Eagle.  More herons and egrets.

It was great to be out, but I am just dead tired now.  Getting the newsletter done since the stuff didn't get to me before we left.  I'm falling asleep over it.  Letting it rest for a moment before I look it over again.

Oh, and the story in my head is starting to really come together.  I think the title is Speaking of Shadows.  We'll see.  it's changed 3 times today already.

Okay, back to work.

June 23, 2014

Amazing how just two days away from the house can both cheer you up and unsettle everything you normally do.  I've spent most of today trying to get things back into the groove.  Clean up this, feed cats, pick up a bit more.  Answer emails, post pictures, think about writing.

Oh yeah, I have been thinking about writing a lot today.  I'm going to get to it soon, too.

Had to finish the DAZ newsletter today.  Had to deal with upset cats.  (Did you know you left the dog here?)  I still have some DAZ pages to edit, too.  But overall, it's been a good day.  Weather was even nice!

June 24, 2014

Trying to get back into the work plan here.  I did get a number of things done today, including contracts out for Vision.  Next up is paying for articles and then getting the issue put together.

I do wish I had a better focus on stuff, though.  Getting closer to July.  Ack.

June 25, 2014

Today I have a number of things to do.  Really.  Must get to them and not sit here thinking about the story I am not going to outline.  I'm going to just write something in July.  No outline. Well maybe not much of one.  I think I need to have a couple 'real world' events that happen, so that means a bit of research.

I do have other things to get done first. This is not one of them.  Bye!

June 26, 2014

I have finished one round of edits on Resurrection: Chance and Change.  It sits for a while now and I'll do another run through it before the release in August.

We have reached the end of the month, though.  Vision is due out.  I still want to take part in JulNo, but I don't feel as though I am even remotely ready for it.  Maybe that will make it more fun?

Maybe I need to just start approaching this with a fun attitude.  Yeah.  I'll get right on that.

June 27, 2014

Today will be a lot of work on Vision.  That's good because this is actually ahead of schedule for me.  Normally I'm trying to put it together at midnight on the night it's due out.  However, for once, I seem to have virtually everything I need and I can actually put it together early.  I am pleased.

I'm doing some outline work, too.  Not on anything for JulNo, though.  LOL.

Not much else to say.  I want to get caught up on all the odd stuff and go into July ready to write.  Just write.  I have an idea -- Speaking of Shadows -- right now.  I have some faint ideas for the opening and a bit into the story.  I think it will write well, but I need to have the right frame of mind.  And not much else to distract me.

June 28, 2014

I am working my way towards JulNo in hopes that I can have a nice few writing days.  Not the whole month -- nothing ever works that well.  However a few days to play with Speaking of Shadows should be fun.  I finally got a clue where the story is going, too.

We had some incredible weather today!  I was just amazed at the clouds.  And Russ took me out to look at them, too, which was fun.  I haven't seen a storm like that before.  It was great to do pictures.

Writing is slow right now.  I hope that changes in July.

June 29, 2014

I have written 3 flash fiction stories today and hope to get one more in tomorrow.  That will take care of all the stories for July.  I have Vision almost completely done.  I have the challenges ready for FM and DAZ.  I'll get all the rest of the stuff done tomorrow and then I'll be ready for July.

Let's hope it all works well.

June 30, 2014

Okay, this is it.  In a few hours I'll be starting JulNo.  I don't expect this to be a spectacular word count month, but I am hoping for something steady and to write something interesting.

Other than that, I have no views of how July will go.  I might do well.  I might get bored.  We'll see.  At least we have the AC in over here so I don't have to worry about the weather getting too hot!

That's it.  I'm going to post this and get back to work on getting the last things for June done.
