May 1, 2014

Welcome to May.

I am ill.  What a great way to start out the month.  This is the start of the short story challenge at FM, too -- and I haven't done a word on it.  Ugh.

However, the weather does seem to be getting better, so I'm having good thoughts on that, at least.

May 2, 2014

Even more ill than I was yesterday.  This is just not going well.  All I want to do is crawl into bed.

Which is actually what I have done for most of the last three days.  I hope this clears up soon, though.  As much as I don't mind being all snuggled into bed, I do have other things to do as well.

I have started my first short story of the month though.  So not all bad!

May 3, 2014

We've had puppy for a month now.  She's a funny little thing.  Having trouble training her, but she's doing okay.  The cats are still a bit put out and Buffy is not happy -- but they're getting better.

I spent at least four days seriously ill.  Better tonight, though.  Just wish my brain would kick back in.  I need to get stuff done.

Ugh.  Well, back to work.

May 4, 2014

May the 4th be with you.

I love Star Wars.  Russ and I went to see it on our first date.  We meant to watch it today, but things got away from us.  Russ is on call until tomorrow, and you just never know what's going to pop up.

The weather is better again.  By some miracle, this year we didn't go from heater to air conditioner in one day like we usually do.  It's nice to have windows open and get fresh air.

That's it.  I've been ill but I'm starting to feel better.  I don't have much hope for writing yet, but it's going okay.

May 5, 2014

I just saw a Harris Sparrow in the yard.  I love having the bird feeders up.  Russ filled them for me yesterday (allergic!), and today the birds are all back again.

I'm having a nice day except for a back problem.  There's always something.  But it's been nice weather and I feel better.  That counts.

Other stuff?  Writing bits and pieces of a short story.  Having a good time.

May 6, 2014

I am trying a new list of things to do every day.  So far it's going okay, but I need to be a bit more enthusiastic about stuff.  Really, that's a sign of my life lately.

Yeah, including writing.  I need a new story.  I need something that really catches hold of me.

I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

May 7, 2014

It got hot today.  Up into the 90's.  Wow.  And I got sick because I got too hot.

You just can't win sometimes.

May 8, 2014

I think I'm about done with my story for publication this month.  Just a fun little story.  That should do it.

Would you believe that I'm cold?  What odd weather we're having.    I have no idea where it's going next.  We did have our first Tornado Watch today, but nothing came close.  The weather is supposed to jump up and down over the next week, which is not fun.  Headache time.

We'll just have to see how it goes.

May 9, 2014

I got the short story released today, though it took quite a bit of work to get it done.  Honestly, there are days when I probably shouldn't attempt to do anything that requires a brain.

Newsletter is done, too.  So are the class uploads.  Took dog for two walks.  Had a nice dinner at Sonic with Russ.  Got writing done.

I guess maybe I shouldn't think I did badly after all.

May 10, 2014

Today I'm working on the library.  The room started getting every box and stack of junk put in it back in the fall and it got worse over the winter.  I need to clean my old office, too -- but the library is getting the first hit.  It really needed it, too.

I think I'm just desperate to do something different today.  It has to be pretty serious when I turn to house cleaning.

May 11, 2014

Cold day.  Temps dropped about 30 degrees since yesterday.  We lucked out and didn't get the bad weather elsewhere in Nebraska, though.  So that's good.

I did get writing, editing, picture taking done. This was despite fighting a miserable headache.  I hate this up and down weather.  And the pollen and I are not the best of friends, either.  I am going to watch shows and l am going to read books.  A good day, overall.

May 12, 2014

We had an odd bit of a storm tonight.  Weather was much worse elsewhere, but here it was pretty good.  We could use more rain, but since I can't take the dog out in this weather, I guess I shouldn't be too sad about it.  Things are green at least.

Writing is getting done.  That's good.

May 13, 2014

No one is happy with this colder weather.  I can't believe that I'm running the heater again.  Isn't this spring?  Come on!  We need to get some nice weather here.

I am working on the edits for Medusan Mutation.  This is an older story again, but I have rewritten it some time in the past.  Now I'm getting it ready for a June release.

I think I need to redo the covers to the first 2 Devlin novels and then this one in the same style.  I need to think about Dancer, which would be the harder one to redo.  Hmmm.

May 14, 2014

We are in extreme celebration mode here.  Russ accepted a new job today!

From his Facebook post:  As of tonight, I have accepted a position with Cloverleaf as an SSRS Reports Writer, with some application development as well! And the bonus? It is in Sioux City, with NO overtime, NO weekends, and NO on call! Double win!

Yeah, this is good news!

May 15, 2014

Yes, we are still in celebration mode.  Russ officially gave notice yesterday.  We are counting down the days now!

Other than that -- well, things are going well enough.  Writing has picked up a bit.  Amazing how being in a better mood can do that for you.

So all is good.

May 16, 2014

We had freezing weather last night.  Freezing!  Ugh!  And another night down in the 30's tonight.  This is not the kind of weather I have been expecting.

But life is mostly good right now.  Getting stuff done.  Getting more stuff done.    Editing Medusan Mutation, which is going well.  Writing a couple short stories.

So, good stuff mostly!

May 17, 2014

Got a few things done today!  Yay!

And that is about the best that can be said for it.  It wasn't a bad day, but I just didn't get enough done and now it's very late and I'm in annoyed mode.

The puppy is being goofy tonight.  LOL  Edmond is taking it seriously, though and I have to tell him to stop yelling at her.

I finished another short story today.

That's it!

May 18, 2014

We are counting down the days until Russ is finished with one job and starts the new one.  Yay!  We are in celebration mode, which is kind of fun.

The weather is odd.  I can't decide what we're going to have next, but at least it's not so bad I can't take the dog for a walk.

Writing?  Yeah, it's there.  I'm getting to it.

May 19, 2014

I have started my 4th short story of the month.  I am almost done with Octavian of Keris Station.  I'm close to done with Surviving Elsewhere as well.

Wow.  suddenly everything is coming together.

After this, I want to write some outlines and be ready for the rest of the year.  There are stories I need to tell -- some of them sequels to other works.

May 20, 2014

Okay, got all kinds of things done already today!  Yay!  Not writing, but a lot of other things that had been piling up, including some housework.  I will be getting to writing soon.

Yesterday I added another issue of Vision to the back issue section.  That makes 1-10 and 61-75. We're at 500 articles. I am curious to see how many we end up with, but it's going to be about a year before I'm done.

I'm good at long range projects if I can make a habit of working on them.    Every Monday I should add a new issue to the back issues section.  Ten done.  50 more to go.

Medusan Mutation is going along fine.  I'm about half way through it, but it's going to be a bit more difficult to do as I get closer to the end.  We'll see how long it takes me.

May 21, 2014

The weather has certainly been better, though we're bound to start getting too hot soon.  Too bad.  This is really nice, without heater or AC on.  Quiet and comfortable.

I'm trying to sort out the writing and figure out why I'm not making much progress on anything.  They're all moving, but slowly.  I am coming closer to being done with some things, though.  That's good.

Coming closer to the end of the month, too.  Amazing how that happens.

May 22, 2014

Okay.  Almost done with Surviving Elsewhere.  Almost done with Octavian of Keris Station.  Preparing to attack a long list of sequels and try to get some outlines done.

This is a plan. We'll find out if it's a good plan or not later.

may 23, 2014

Russ is not officially working this weekend, though we expect a few calls anyway. Then he works Tuesday and Wednesday. That's it!

It's going to take a while to get used to the changes, but we're thinking good thoughts.

I am closer to done with Medusan Mutation.  This is odd because I kept feeling as though I would be working on it all the way through June and hoped to get it finished.

It needs another run through, though.  I am thinking of things that I need to layer in for later novels.

Other than that, things are quiet.  I did finish Octavian of Keris Station.  Odd book.  Not sure what I'll do with it.

May 25, 2014

Oh yes, almost done with Medusan Mutation.  The big problem now is going to be the cover.  I . . . . hold on.  I may have an answer.  I have to think about this one.

But still, things are going well.  Finished another short story.  One more to go this month.

May 26, 2014

It is incredibly humid and damp today.  Not so hot -- only about 77f out, and cloudy -- and the humidity is 77%.  Clothing feels damp.  House feels damp.  And it's grey out, which makes it feel worse.

We have having Internet Connection problems, too.  Ugh.gbbbbbbbbbbb

Zaphod typing for me.

I don't mind this weather except that it's uncomfortable.  It would be nice if it rained again.  We had a lovely storm the other night.

I am on the last chapter of Medusan Mutation.  I have notes on what I need to add in, but it's not much.  It's going very well.

may 27, 2014

I have worked all the way through Medusan Mutation.  I'll be going through it one more time (at least) but that's just to find stupid mistakes.  I have the story done.  I also have a great cover for it.  This is good because until a day or so ago, I had no idea at all for a cover.

What else?  Tomorrow is Russ's last day at the job from hell.  Yay!  Of course today he blew a tire on the way to work and had to replace it.  We just can't get out without some jab or two, right?

May 28, 2014

This is Russ's last day at the job in Omaha!  Yay!  He's going to have a job that is actually 8 to 5 -- I don't remember the last time he had such a job.  I don't know if he ever did.

The weather has changed.  It's 85 in the house right now.  Time to get the AC in and see if it works.  It's warmer in here than it is outside.  And humid.  Ugh.  Have the fan on at least.

We are having Internet problems, though.  Making it hard to get anything done here!

May 29, 2014

Internet problems still.  Hot weather.  Not good for my state of mind.  Also, I fell this afternoon and I'm starting to feel it.  Ugh.

But, on the good side, I think I am down to the last few hundred words for Surviving Elsewhere.  If I can just twist this ending the way I want, I could be done with it tonight, at 45 entries.  Yay.

may 30, 2014

Hot weather and Internet problems do not combine for a good happy Zette.  We do have the AC in, though.  And it works!  We've also had some interesting storms, which have been nice.  I like storms that are interesting, but not dangerous.

Too near the end of the month.  Ack.

May 31, 2014

Internet is better.  Weather is iffy.    End of the month.  Stuff I MUST do.

But overall, it's not too bad!
