Sunset on the River

June 1, 2015

On a ride yesterday, Russ convinced me that I should put out some print copies of my book so that I could at least have a shelf of my own work on hand.

Why not?

So, today is Vision day and starting work on In the Shadow of Giants to see how hard it will be.  I can do this.

Tree Trunk

June 2, 2016

Apparently working through the stuff on CreateSpace isn't so hard at all.  I have a book done and a proof copy on the way.  Well.  It shouldn't take me long to get the rest of the books up there, right?  I have to wait to see the proof before I know that my setup is what I want, but overall . . . very easy to do.

This should be fun!

Nice View

June 3, 2015

Writing is going well, writing is not going well.  It's been so up and down lately that I can't tell what it will be from one hour to the next.  Today started out well and then dwindled down to practically nothing.  No real reason, too.

I plan to go to bed soon and try again tomorrow.

I'm not complaining.  The story is still good and I'm not stuck or anything.  Just going slowly today.  I expect things to be better tomorrow.

June 4, 2015

I am still excited about the book heading my way.  Another five days or so!  I need to work on the next one, too.  Get them all out there.  Go for it!

Like it is going to make any difference in things.  But you know, at least it's fun.  Paid in Gold and Blood will be next.  I think I need a new cover for it, though.  Hmmm. . . .

So much stuff to do!

Storm Clouds

June 5, 2015

Russ came home and said we should go to Sioux Falls to have dinner at Casa Del Rey.  Who am I to argue?  So off we w888888888888 (ZAPHOD) went and have a lovely time!  The drive was great and the food was wonderful.  Our first date was at a Casa Del Rey here in town, but has closed down, alas.  It was nice to go back and have the food again.  Russ says we should do it once a month.

Well, at least until winter hits!

Storm Clouds

June 6, 2015

We had a storm tonight.  Lovely storm; lots of rain, flash lighting, not much in wind.  It lasted a while.

And when it was done there were two problems.

First, the Internet was down.

Second, the site I had been uploading just before the storm hit was gone.  Gone from my computer. Disappeared.  The site I had worked on for days.  You cannot imagine the reaction since I'd pretty much put aside everything else to get this done.

Now the good news.  Windows has a nifty feature where you can right-click a file folder and choose 'restore previous versions' which allowed me to go back one day and get what had been in there.  There was much rejoicing.

Now if I can just get the Internet back.

June 7, 2015

No internet, except for little bits and peaks now and then.  This is bad news because I do have the newsletter to upload.

Russ went up to visit his brother in South Dakota this afternoon and I stayed here hoping to get the work done.  I at least got enough of the material so that I could put all but one part of the newsletter together.  Got quite a bit of writing done, too.  Maybe there is something to this 'no Internet' stuff.

June 8, 2015

I really haven't slept.  Just a couple naps here and there during the night.  Not sure what that's about.  Very annoying, really.

I'm trying to get the newsletter off to DAZ.  No, the Internet isn't working properly yet.  It's giving me a headache.  I can't believe they still don't have this working right.  I just want the newsletter sent off!

I think I need some sleep.  What is this morning stuff I'm seeing?  Even the cats are looking at me like I've gone crazy.

The Book

June 9, 2015

Yes, the book arrived today.  It looks good!  Russ is going to read it for me so that we can try to find any last mistakes, but other than that, it's pretty good.  Might want to adjust the gutter a little bit, but over all, it looks good.

This means it won't take much to get the rest of the novels done and ready for print publication.  I need new cover art for some. The cover for In the Shadow of Giants is great, though!

Oh, and the internet is mostly back and working.  I've gotten caught up on things.  Now, if I could get rid of this horrible headache tonight, things would be good!

June 10, 2015

Working along on stuff.  It's a bit slow, but going well.  Weather is odd, but not bad.

I think I finally have the ACOA site up and running.  I don't have all of my books listed.  I don't know if I ever will at this rate, but at least I'm getting a lot of other people's work done.

June 11, 2015

So, on the 9th we had temps over 100f.  Yesterday (10th) we had a storm.  Today we had highs about 66f.  Yeah, that's going to induce headaches and annoyances.  Not that I don't appreciate the cooler weather, but it was gray and dingy all day.  Wet some of the time, so that there was never anything really good to take pictures of.

Did get a bit of housework done, though.  And worked on  my Friday Flash story for tomorrow.

And today we got Chinese Detective DVDs.  Wow.  Watched the first one.  There are only 14 episodes, but we've never seen 3 of them!

June 12, 2015

Having a gray, odd day here.  The weather lately has been odd -- hot or cold or wet.  No big storms, but some nights there's a bit of thunder and lightning.

I've fallen behind on virtually everything.  I'll get caught up eventually and I'm trying not to let it all annoy me.

Chinese Detective is fun so far, though!

Missouri river

June 13, 2015

We went out to Stone State Park today.  It's amazing how green the area is this year!  So the rain has been good for some stuff.  And it's not like the rain others are getting!

I am trying to get things lined up.  I have something to publish for someone else and I need to get that moving.  I want to get In the Shadow of Giants done, too.  And finish writing Touched by the Wild which has grown over 10k in the first third of the novel.

Yeah.  Odd stuff!

Stone State Park

June 14, 2015

I am miserably ill.  Food we had last night did not agree with me and continues to not agree with me.  All I want to do is curl up in bed.

At least I know not to eat there again.

June 15, 2015

Still not well.  This is annoying.

Trying to get some work done, but it's getting difficult to get caught up.  I need a plan.

Right now the plan seems to be to go nap.

Art stuff

June 16, 2015

I'm feeling better.  This is good because I really do need to get all kinds of stuff done, and it's all fighting me.  Very annoying things, all of them.  Snarl at writing.  Snarl at editing.  Snarl at house.

Though I have gotten a lot of the editing today, so I shouldn't snarl too much.  I'll get this book done and ready to really be printed soon.  Yay!

Then it will be on to the next one.

June 17, 2015

Today I got something done for someone else.  I'd been working at it a bit at a time and decided I simply needed to go in and do what I could, then rework to specifications later.

So, that one is done for now.

Yay!  I feel better already.  And I'm about half way through the edits on the novel.  If I can just focus -- but I've read this one too many times, I fear.

Still, getting things done.  We're good.

Sioux City

June 18, 2015

A drop in writing again today, but I'm still moving forward.  Mostly I got the FF done for the week and that's the last of that set.  Yay!

I need to do a book of the ff stories, I think.  Later.  So much else I still have to do!

I'm working on In the Shadow of Giants.  I'm getting closer to done, but it's really starting to get annoying!

June 19, 2015

We are having rather nice weather, really.  I'm surprised because usually this time of year everything goes bad.  It's nice not to have to run the AC constantly, at least.  This house is stays cool until in the afternoon anyway, so I'm good there.

Still working on story things.  I'm getting closer to being done with In The Shadow of Giants.  I will have the paperback for sale soon!

June 20, 2015

We went to DeSoto as part of our weekend Anniversary celebration (36 years!).  It was great fun.  The weather was lovely and this group of several geese heading for the water was fun.  Most of the group were young, though they had their adult markings.  Just not quite up to the full size yet.

Still working on the novel.  I'll be glad to get it done and get back to work on relatively new stuff!

June 21, 2015

Today we went to the Lee G. Simmons Wildlife Safari down by Lincoln.  Yay!  I got some incredible shots there!  What a lovely trip.  The weather was a bit warm, but we managed anyway.  It was wonderful.

This has been a great weekend!

Sioux Falls

June 22, 2015

Today is our 36th anniversary!  Amazing!

We went to Sioux Falls and to the falls themselves, which was a lot of fun.  Great photo stuff, though I've had trouble with the reds with both cameras.  Oh, but what fun!

Then we went to the Casa Del Rey restaurant there.  The one in Sioux City closed, alas.  That was where we'd had our first date, so we had to make do. The food was excellent!

What a wonderful few days!

June 23, 2015

I am back to work on the novels.  Yeah, I worked on them over the weekend, too -- but now I'm really back to work on stuff and fired up to get things done again.  I'd gotten into a slump there and getting out of the house for three days in a row on such fun adventures really did the trick.

I have a lot of pictures to sort through, too.  Yay!

June 25, 2015

Okay, the last of the novel edit is done!  But. . . .

Now I have the back cover to redo and nothing I've written for it today sounds right.  There is just always something that can't quite work out right, isn't there? Once I get this done, I'll be to work on uploading and getting another test copy.  I hope this one is right!

It will be nice to have it done.  Then it will be on to the next one.

June 25, 2015

Touched by the Wild is going well today.  I'm getting bits and pieces pushed forward on the plot and dropping a lot of the too-sweet feel from the original.  Much better story for it and far more complex.

In the Shadow of Giants is sitting for a day or two so I can look over the cover stuff one more time.  Then up it goes and everything should be good.  I hope.

I also wrote a flash fiction piece today, but I still need to do a bit of art work for it.  I'm trying to get writing done first, then have time to play with it.  Sounds good to me.

This is going well.

June 26, 2015

Had some lovely birds out by the feeder today.  Nice to see the House Finches back. They always make me smile.  I'm going to move my exercise bike over to where I can watch out and get pictures.  LOL.

Writing is going well, even though I don't feel very directed.  Nice though!

June 27, 2015

Another day with more birds and more writing and -- oh, things are calm enough now, but I've been very, very ill.  I sure hope this goes away fast.

At least it wasn't last weekend.

June 28, 2015

Feeling better today.  Still not great, but better.

Almost the end of the month.

I am not doing Camp NaNo in July, though.  I think I simply need some calm here.  Maybe even -- dare I say it? -- less writing for a while.

Nah.  That won't happen.

June 29, 2015

Okay, here is unexpected weather!  Today it was incredibly smoky.  It turns out the jet stream is pulling smoke down from the Canadian fires, and wow was it thick!

I would hate to be up there were it is actually happening.

It looked like fog here.  Very strange.

June 30, 2015

Last day of the month and, despite everything, looks like I have about all the stuff done again.  Yay!

End of the month is getting harder and harder for me, though.  I hope things get a bit easier in July.

Somehow, I suspect that won't happen.
