September 1, 2016

I need to write my flash fiction for the week.  It is already Thursday.  I have less and 100 words on it so far and I have no idea where it is going.

Okay, that's better.  It's done now.  I'm working on the art for it now.

And that's done.  Well, okay.  I can stand to have things go together so well.

I am having trouble with this concept of September.  I would like winter to hold off for, oh, a year or so.  I like autumn, and I could stand the colors and cooler weather just fine if I didn't think winter is coming.  I believe I will be wintering in my office here again, which is okay.  I like the little room and it is easy to heat, but if the winter goes on too long, it gets very dreary.

Maybe I should winter in Hawaii, right?  Sounds good to me.  I miss the ocean.

September 2, 2016

Ruins is published.  Let's see if we can get any sales at all on this one.  I don't know.  I get the impression that nothing is going to work this time.

I might be a bit pessimistic.

Outline for Silversun is going fine.  Not great, but okay.

Raventower's final edit is going slowly, but the work itself is good.  I'm going to pull up programs and start looking at cover art again, too.  I have the original work, but I think I want something more.

Can I have the book done by the end of the month?  Do I need to have it done by then?  I don't know.  I don't intend to rush the work.

I want to do this one well.  Not that I haven't wanted the same for the others, but this one simply needs more attention.  I'm having fun with it.

September 3, 2016

I am having a day where I can't seem to really connect to anything.  It took me forever to edit one chapter.  I am trying to write my blog post.  I haven't done much on my outline.

Lucky for me that it all adds up eventually.  But it can be really, really annoying while trying to do it.  I want to work on Raventower, but I also want to get some writing in.

So I did some of both and it all worked out, but it was mostly an annoying day.  And now the copies of pictures are messing up and I'm afraid I may have lost some. There are days when maybe just staying in bed and reading isn't such a horrible idea.

September 4, 2016

One of those up and down days that could drive you crazy.

But just now, as I wrote that, I think I came up with an idea that might help with one of the story outlines.  Good. Finally.  I swear my brain is just playing games with me.

Raventower is going well, though.  I really think it is.  How can I get people to read this one when it's done?

This, that, something else.  That's the problem here.  I can't seem to get focused on anything again.  I get one idea, and then another on something else, then back to the editing, no jump over to Silversun, oh that's what I can do with Dragon Mountains -- is that going to be the title?  I don't know.  Edit some more on Raventower.

Eventually I get something done.

September 5, 2016

We went down to DeSoto late in the afternoon.  The weather was a lot warmer than I had expected, and the AC in the car went out for part of the trip, but it came back.  Yay!  Saw lots of stuff, too!  Russ even spotted a beaver heading off the road, but I missed that one!

It was a nice ride and I enjoyed taking the pictures.  I did get a bunch of mosquito bites at one spot, though, and we had to get some meds for that once we left.

There were yellow flowers everywhere!  It was really very cheery.

September 6, 2016

A bit off today because of allergic reaction to bites yesterday -- but overall, not too bad.  Had a bit of a breakthrough on Silversun outline which is actually almost done.  I'll be happy to have it finished and work on the next outline.  I have a choice of two still.

Coping pictures off.  Almost through 2013. 2012 should only be jpgs so they'll go fast -- can fit more of them on a disk.

Raventower is moving along.  I keep reminding myself to add details.  That's my bane.  But so far . . . kind of fun.  Lots of good bits.  Let's hope they add up to a good whole story.

September 7, 2016

I got things done today.  Clothes washed.  All of the 2012 pictures copied over.  Started the outline for the last Surviving Elsewhere set of stories and I think I'm going to start them this week.  It should be a set of about 30 flash fictions to finish out the entire series.  I look forward to working with Edmond the Talking Cat (and now flying cat as well) again.

I have to make up my mind on a third piece I have in notes but haven't started doing anything serious with yet.  Should I leap in and write it?  Should I do another outline?  Probably the outline because I don't think I have enough material for NaNo yet.

But overall, it is going well!

September 8, 2016

The weather is changing.  The leaves are starting to change, too.  I hope to get some nice pictures this year, but we'll see.  You never know what is going to happen.  Sometimes the leaves are just getting pretty and a wind storm comes along and they're all down.

We don't want an early winter.  Or ice storms.  Or any of the rest of that stuff.

Writing is going fine.  I don't have all I need yet, but I'm getting there.

September 9, 2016

Rain!  We had some lovely rain here today.  I wish we could have had more of that during the summer, but it was nice now.

A lot of my mulberry bush has fallen this year.  I'll miss seeing the birds on it eating the berries.  I need to figure out other places for them to land so I can get more pictures, too.  And I need bird food.

I hate that I don't have a job.  Can I still hope for more books to sell?  I don't know.

September 10, 2016

I am working on Raventower.  Is this the book that is going to make it?  I thought In the Shadow of Giants would be the book to leap out there and draw attention.  I thought Paid in Gold and Blood would do it.  Maybe even Beware the Wrath of Bunny Hopper.

Now I'm not sure any of them will.  It's lucky I love writing enough that it doesn't matter, right?  Well, it didn't.  I would like some income now, though.  That would be very helpful.

I guess I'll just have to keep at it.

September 11, 2016

Oh what a lovely trip!  We left about 5:30am.  When we first got to the refuge, it seemed as though there was nothing much around, but then we started seeing them -- herons, egrets, pelicans, ducks, turkey vultures, etc.  The weather was nice, too.  We drove around in circles and I took pictures and more pictures.  It was a beautiful day to be there.

And a day to be away from the memories of 9/11.  I didn't want to know if anything else went wrong today.  I wanted to see the better side of life again.

We ate a late lunch in Omaha on the way home.  By the time we got here, I was exhausted and just threw myself in bed.  I hadn't slept the night before.

And an hour later I was up, very, very ill.  Miserably ill.  So much so that I stayed curled up in bed for the rest of the day.

September 12, 2016

Day two of being very ill.  I suspect I had a bad food reaction -- probably sunflower seed oil somewhere in something I ate yesterday.  Whatever it was, this is the second day and I'm not happy.

I have forced myself to get some work done.  I even wrote the flash fiction for this week.   Other than that, not much going on.  Nice weather, though I'm perpetually cold now.  Going back to bed soon.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.

September 13, 2016

I am telling myself that I am better in hopes that I'll believe it.  What a miserable few days again.  I am getting tired of this.

It's kind of cool here today -- only 62f.  It will warm a bit up tomorrow.  Good.  I don't want to have a cold on top of everything else.

I might almost be done with the with Silversun.  I think one more set and I'll have enough for a first novel.  We'll see if I go on from there.

Raventower --  Russ and I discussed some things for Raventower 2, to be released in early 2017 if I can pull all of this together.  Something he said brought out two pieces, one that meant a slight change in Raventower 1, but was easy to put in.  And this leads to the second book which will tie up everything.  Lord Raventower and Merriweather may have more adventures later, but this will settle this story arc.  Oh and titles:

Raventower 1: Secrets

Raventower 2: War

September 14, 2016

I am tired of being ill.  But at least today I got things done.  Clothes washed, dinner fixed, cleaned up a bit around the house and started looking at moving back into my office.  It's too early, though.  If I go now, I'll be there until March.  I'll wait for the temp to drop a bit more.

I have been cold, but I think that's mostly because I've been ill.  It's not that cold out yet!

I am sorting Design Cuts items today.  One of those things I've let go for too long because I did something stupid and had to load in all the sets again.  I have a lot of this stuff!  I should be able to find something useful to do with it someday!

I realize I got a lot of stuff done today after all.  Good.  Even the writing went well.  So let's hope it keeps going this way for a while!

September 15, 2016

Half way through the month already.  Wow.  This is going too fast and I am not getting nearly enough stuff done.  I'm still editing Raventower 1.  I am still working on the Silversun outline and the Elsewhere outline.  Trying to get various bits and pieces of things done.

I just don't feel as though I am getting what I need for NaNo, though.  Is that important?  I imagine that if it came to it, I could start November 1 with a new idea and do fine.  My problem is more in my current attitude.

This might be part of having been ill again.  I hope that I can get past all of this.  I have things I want to do.

September 16, 2016

We had storms that lasted most of last night.  Loud, bright storms!  It was pretty incredible, even if I couldn't get any lightning shots.  That was okay.  It was cool just to hear the storm.

Today getting odds and ends done again.  Copying the latest pictures off to DVD.  Cleaning up some files.  Working at getting things picked up in the office and wondering if I shouldn't move in there before it gets cold.

I am in the mood for a change, I think.  The problem is if I go there now, it will be six months before I can change back -- some time in March when it starts warming up again.  On the other hand, I'll be ready for when it does turn cold.

Too many decisions.

September 17, 2016

Half way through the month.  Things are moving along fine in most ways.  I see an end to the outline for Silversun.  I have a few more notes for another, unnamed fantasy novel.  I am starting to think about Raventower 2.  If that story comes together, I'll do it for NaNo.

The weather is cool but not bad.  No rain lately.  I could have had heat on a couple times, but I'm trying to hold back.  I don't want to get to used to it and see if I can  keep the heating costs down this year.

Back to work, back to work.

September 18, 2016

My computer has gone crazy.  I don't know what is going on, but it keeps adding returns and lines of other characters -- hundreds of them that don't stop when I turn off the keyboard (though they've likely already been added by it and it's just going until it runs out).  I think I have tracked it down to the numeric keyboard side.  I hope having cleaned and cleaned it again will help.

Also, I am on the last chapter of Raventower.  I have some notes that I need to go back over, but mostly ... done.  Wow.

September 19, 2016

The final chapter of Raventower is about 4 pages long.

I have not gotten to it yet.

I will in a couple minutes.  I had things that needed done today, and that's pretty much taken care off -- though why am I being distracted by more types of birds than I've seen in weeks?  It is nice to see them, but still -- I need to focus here.

I am also overwhelmed with hold me cats.

Give me a break!

Okay, back to work.

September 20, 2016

Raventower is virtually done.  I have completed the last big edits and I still have a few notes to go over and a couple things to change.  Mostly, though, I need to make certain that book 1 and book 2 do not clash over any facts.

Book 2 is little more than a collection of notes and scenes, but it is finally something.  What I really need to do is list out things that have not been completely settled in book 1.

I do see what's going on, though.  This is always a fun time.  Ideas hitting from here and there.  Yay!

September 21, 2016

Russ took me for a ride last night and we talked about Raventower 2.  I have more ideas and a couple notes on background material that I have to work up.  It's coming together, though!  Yay!

I should have the outline  done before NaNo.  I'll also have the Silversun outline done and I have Amusing Grace.  I think that between the three of them I should have a good word count and have plenty to write.

Oh and the weather?  90f with a heat index of 98f for the last day of summer.  That was unexpected.  Let's hope for a nice, long autumn, though.

And now, back to work!

September 22, 2016

Russ and I have been watching a wonderful set of lectures on Alexander.  They're from The Great Courses and given by Harl, who is wonderful.  Filled with facts and touches of humor, they've kept us enthralled for about 30 classes so far, and this only goes to 36.  I'm going to miss this set, though Harl has many more, so we might keep going with him.

This has been our 'watch something together' shows for most of the year.  We'll get back to some of our DVD collections probably this winter.  Oh yes, winter will be coming.  Right now I have to decide whether to move into my little office before November 1 and NaNo, or risk the disruption for a couple days if it gets too cold before the end of November.  I'm aiming at the second plan.  I write enough that a couple days of low word count won't hurt, especially if I get a good run on the first part.

Of course, the weather might turn cold in October and I'll just move stuff then.

Things to think about.  It's autumn.  I like to see a bit of change now, so this should be interesting.

September 23, 2016

I am in the mood for playing with photography.  Too bad I really don't have the time if I want to get stuff done in time.

And I need to make decisions about what that 'stuff' is and get a plan.  A plan would be nice.

Not seeing one tonight, though.

September 24, 2016

Russ took me out to Bacon Creek Park.  It was a lovely afternoon for it -- rainy most of the day and not many people there.  The colors were starting to change and everything looked lovely.  I really enjoy this time of year.

But turning cooler.  Next week won't be over 70f and the nights are going to start turning cold.  Winter is still some ways off, but you can see it sneaking in!

September 25, 2016

Oh yeah, cooler weather.  But nice in many ways.  We went for a great ride this evening.

I made soup tonight.  Beef and Barley soup, which I had never made before.  In fact, this was my first attempt at a soup (I do stews and such) that I ever really did.

It turned out great!

And the cheese and herb bread that I made to go with it, too.

I do love cooking sometimes.  This took longer than it should have because I simply can't stand long enough to chop all the potatoes, onion, carrots, meat, and celery.  So part of the stuff got chopped up last night and in water in the fridge for the night.  It all worked out fine.

Writing was great yesterday, not so good today.  But I am still getting there.

September 26, 2016

Well, that didn't go as well as it could have.

One keyboard ruined today.  New keyboard wouldn't work.  Hours trying to get it fully connect with the computer, and then the mouse wouldn't work.  Another hour or so with that one.

Everything is working now.  I hope it stays that way.  That was just totally crazy.

I didn't get much writing done, but I hope tomorrow to make up for that lack of words.

At least I got everything working in the end.  Now I just want to sleep.

September 27, 2017

Well, better day overall but I still didn't get much written.  I suppose I should start worrying about that with November and the end of the year coming soon.

What I really need to worry about is one hour on Saturday when I take over a book release party for someone.

But actually, I got most of it done and I'm ready to go.  Once I sat down and started typing, it moved along very well.  Kind of funny, really.

All this fuss for one hour of stuff.  Hmmm.  But after this one, I'll have a better idea of what to do in the future, including for something of my own.

September 28, 2016

One of those frustrating computer days when I really thought I was going to get work done -- but an update and restart has put an end to that so far.  I've been sitting here for hours getting little things done and waiting for the rest of it to click in.  Part of the problem is that I am doing a Lightroom backup -- probably shouldn't have done that until late tonight.  It is moving, but very slowly.

Grammarly doesn't want to open and I can't decide if it's the update or just other stuff going on.  I'll wait until Lightroom is done and then try it again.

Dinner is cooking in the crockpot.  Got the dishes done and bits of things cleaned up.  I will get some writing done tonight if I have to do it on the Nook.

September 29, 2016

Raventower and Merriweather 1: Secrets is very close to being done with the final, final, really final edit.  I will be so happy to have this one done and released because I think it's a good book.  Of course, I think they're all good books, but there are those that just seem ... more good than others.  LOL

Weather here is starting into the cooling trend. That's good and bad.  The cats are all in their hold-me phase.  Makes it hard to work.

September 30, 2016

Tomorrow I do the Book Release hour long thing.  I've written up more information than they'll want to know, but at least it will keep me busy, both now and then.

I can't believe it is the end of the month, though.  This can't be good.  One month until NaNo?  AAAIIIEEE!

I can handle this.  Really.
