April 1, 2017

I have had a hard day trying to get stuff done. The stew turned out really well.  The writing is okay, but really, should have been better.    The weather was not bad.  I'm not certain what is slowing me up on things this time, but I think I'll take advantage of it and do some housework tomorrow.  Maybe. That sounds drastic to me.

Actually, Russ and I were discussing some minor changes in how things are set up and that might be nice to get done.

April 2, 2017

I am 12 chapters into the edits for Raventower & Merriweather 2: War.  So far I think it is going really well!  It's nice to have something that moves along well.  I expect to have the book published by the end of April if all goes well.  Wish me luck.  I need to keep this kind of focus again.

Spring helps.  I can get up out of my chair and wander around the house without freezing.  That's rather nice, though the house now needs a serious cleaning.

I am happy to see spring.  I think my attitude is improving, too.

April 3, 2017

Today I got Grammarly to work with Word.  This makes things interesting.  One less step in editing.

Other than that -- can't say there is much going on.  Getting things done.  Feeling out changes for Spring.  All is well.

April 4, 2017

We had a lovely sunset tonight and Russ took me on a ride to catch as much of it as we could.  It was really nice to see the colors again.  Spring and Summer sunsets are the best.  I look forward to more of them soon.

Raventower 2 is moving along fine.  I am enjoying the editing, which is always a good sign.

The weather is still up and down, but we're heading for warmer weather.  I hope it hits soon!

April 5, 2017

My stomach has been a bit off today and not helped by a late night maybe disaster with the house.  We'll see.  It might not be as bad as it looks right now.

And to avoid thinking about it, I leapt back into work on Journey of a Thousand Truths and it actually started moving.  I can live with that right now.  I'd like to have the book done by the end of the month. The same for Raventower 2 -- and that one I have a real chance with since I'm editing it and not writing it.

I need to do my hieroglyphs yet tonight, too.  That's going well.  Totally useless, but fun.

So there we are.  My life is pretty much what it has been for the last few days.  Weeks?  Months?  Whatever.

April 6, 2017

Trump's first act of war tonight.  I have to hope that those with draft age children who voted for this man have no reason to regret it.  I generally stay clear of politics, but Trump is not my favorite person, and he's made it plain that he's only in this for the glory -- which is why he's had a couple rallies after he was elected.  He likes to have people cheering him.  He clearly does not like the work that is involved or finding out that people still oppose him.  We're in for a rocky road still.

And that's not even counting that there were Russians at the base we bombed in Syria.

Sigh.

april 7, 2017

No major war over night so I count that as a win.

I suppose I just better get used to the state of things and not let it drive me crazy.  That's not going to be easy, but I really don't want to spend the next few years waiting for the next disaster.  If they come, they come.

Writing is going okay.  Raventower 2 needs something.  I'm working at figuring out what.

April 8, 2017

In the good news side, Stone State Park is open again!  We drove up through it today, which was fun.  There are virtually no leaves out yet and that gave it a very different look.  Nice to have it open again because it is such a different place to go -- a lot of winding roads through stands of trees with steep drop offs in many places.

I also have the buds of lilacs on my bushes.  Lots of them.  As long as we don't get some really horrible weather in the next few weeks, I should have some lovely flowers this year.  Yay!

April 9, 2017

Today we went to South Dakota. The weather was odd.  Not as warm as I would have liked, not rainy enough to be interesting, but still odd.

I didn't get much done, of course, but it is good to get out and go visit people now and then.  I'm not really good at that part of life.  I need nudged.

We got home earlier than usual and had time to get stuff done,t hough, so that's good!

April 10, 2017

Cold!  Russ said he even saw a bit of snow/ice this afternoon.  This is just unreasonable.  I want spring!

And this cold had better not hurt my lilacs.  I want them to bloom this year.  Last year a late storm virtually wiped them out.  I can see a lot of buds already, so I have hopes for this year.

Journey of a Thousand Truths finally made one of those unexpected leaps forward.  I'm pleased.  Raventower 2 is going well, but ... just missing something there.  I'll figure it out.

April 11, 2017

We picked up the new C. J. Cherryh hardbound tonight at Barnes and Noble.  Convergence is book 18 in the Foreigner series.  Wow!  I admit that I am already reading it in the book format. Really interested in seeing where this one goes.

My Egyptian Grammar book arrived as well.  I have not opened that package yet.  I wait for Russ because it's always more fun then, and he's been a bit busy tonight.  I can wait.  Maybe.

Only two more classes to go.  I skipped Sunday since we were out of town for a good part of the day and I didn't want to push through it.

Did a lot of editing/rewrite today.  Matters are starting to come more clearly in the book.  I can make this work.  I might need to rearrange a couple spots, but that shouldn't be so hard.

I hope.

Writing is odd, you know.  You can create whole worlds and then rearrange time for your characters to make things 'more interesting.'  I'm sure the characters appreciate that so much. (grin)

April 12, 2017

Today was the last of my hieroglyph classes. Sniff.  That doesn't mean I won't keep going, though.  And I will likely go back over some of the classes a few times.  I also have the wonderful book Russ ordered for me that has more in it to learn.  Still, the classes were fun.

Of course, now I'm on to learn something else.  I want to take the Latin class, but not right after the one on hieroglyphs.   I suspect I might drop into something for science this time.  In fact, I might take a very short course (12 classes) on the night sky just to get a break from the more serious stuff.

I have taken 12 of the courses in the last two years.  This is fun!

However, you can get attached to the professors and have trouble moving on to someone new.  That's why it can be important to try a completely different subject so you aren't doing so much comparison stuff.

In fact, there were only two of the courses that I dropped and those were both what I felt was an attitude from the people presenting them.  Not that they were horrible -- only that it didn't click.

This really is a lot of fun, though.

April 13, 2017

I am back to working with lists.  I don't know why I stopped making them, except for this rebellious urge not to get anything actually done, I think.  At any rate, I have lists again and I've done more in the last two days than I'd done in quite a while.

I am close to do with the edits on Raventower 2.  I know at least one large section I want to add in, so I'm not really almost done, but it is closer.

I am drawing closer to the end of Journey, too.  I have to just focus the story into the proper path for that one.

And -- I am almost done with Saving Everywhere, the last of the Surviving Elsewhere trilogy of flash fiction stories.  I will be quite happy to have all of this stuff done.  Some of it has just been dragging out too long.  I think it's going to be a problem to edit, but that won't be for a while.  Just get it done.

April 14, 2017

We had a nice ride tonight out into the country.  Some areas are starting to turn green again, which is nice to see after winter.  My grass is green, too.  My lilacs are starting to get buds.  If we don't have a horrible storm like last year, I might get some nice flowers this time.  I missed them last year.

Still working on things.  Still moving forward, but no matter how close I think I am to reaching the end of something, it still seems to be a good distance away.  I am looking forward to writing The End on at least once piece soon, though.

April 15, 2017

Russ went down to Omaha to help out a friend today.  People always know they can count on him, which is both good and bad.  He needs his own time, too -- and I take too much of that for stuff.  I'm trying to cut back, but I do like to spend time with him.  So does everyone else.

So I make sure I have things to entertain myself a lot of time.  Writing has most of my brain.  Photography takes a huge section of the rest.  It's a wonder I can think about anything else.  Hieroglyphs.  Yes, still at that, even though I finished the class.  I'm still having fun with it, too.  I work on something from it every day.

April 16, 2017

Today we went down to DeSoto Wildlife Refuge.  We always take a nature trip on Easter.  We used to go out to Niobrara, but they built a huge bridge there and all the wildlife disappeared.  it's a shame because there was a lovely pelican flock there every year.

DeSoto didn't look to have much but we found one little wetland area with more teals than I think I've ever seen in one spot.  Mixed in with them were a few wood ducks and mallards and one deer!

It was a very nice trip.

April 17, 2017

Bad back today.  Very bad back for most of it.  I can finally move a bit better now, but this is not  pleasant.  I hope it clears up pretty fast.  I probably just turned oddly in the car at some point yesterday.  Ugh.

Today is the Boy's birthday!  Yay!  I did get their annual picture, so all is well.  They had treats and Russ even brought home their favorite (cheap) cat food.

So all is good.

Except I can't keep Zaphod's paws off the keyboard, so calling it a night.

April 18, 2017

Lovely, lovely weather.  Blue skies, in the 70's, everything green again.  Yes, this is spring.  Russ and I are both suffering for the pollen, but I think it is nice anyway.

The writing is moving along okay.  Picking up a bit, in fact.  Journey is moving again, I'm glad to say.  I am also close to being done with the edits on Raventower 2.  Found a couple of things, story-wise, to correct.

And that's it.  Just a nice day.

April 19, 2017

And today was gray, misty, odd -- but still nice.  Not as warm as I would have liked, but still not bad.

Now that I am almost done with Journey, my brain is starting to kick in again, I think.  Yay!  I have Amusing Grace to write still.  Barely started it on my birthday, but it is sitting there calling to me.  I am shifting my Wattpad story from Journey to something else, too. That's helping.  I don't feel as much stress about finishing the story.  Good.  I do not want the Wattpad stuff to become something stressful.

Other than that?  Not much.  Hope it keeps going that way.

April 20, 2017

We are having another gray day.  Only 52f out, but that's still not too bad.  Heat on in my office.

I've spent most of today getting 'things' done -- like this -- and not hitting the writing much yet.  That's about to change.  I want to see if I can make a significant dent into the ending of Journey.  I also only have maybe 3 chapters left to edit on Raventower.  I think the next few days are going to see the end of a lot of lingering work.  Yay!

Best to apply myself and see what I can get done.

Yeah, it's spring.  Far less snarlies now.

April 21, 2017

I finished the major edit of Raventower 2 today!  That doesn't mean I'm finished with the book, but it is the last of the big steps.  I also worked on the cover again, both the ebook and print version.  With luck, I might still have it out this month.  Yay!

We also went to the book sale.  Lots of fun!

So all around a good day!

Sunset

April 22, 2016

I cannot get going on anything today.  Not sure why.  The best I've done is nudge some stuff on the book covers.  Oh, I've got a good amount written on Journey, but it feels slow.  I would like to have the book finished this weekend, to be honest.  I don't know if I'll make it.

I shouldn't be annoyed by that.  It is going well enough.  I just need to get through the battle scenes.  They will not be good in the first draft.  They never are.  But I can get them in place.

Just get it done.  I'll be happy with that much!

April 23, 2017

I awoke today with massive headache.  That's going to make things difficult.

Today they cut down my favorite tree in the neighborhood. This was a lovely, lovely maple, but it had problems during the drought and was not coming back as well.  I still hate to see it go.  I looked forward to every autumn to get pictures of it.  Does not help my headache and the general depression today.

Russ took me for a ride.  We found a new state park with a rather large lake within a few miles of us.  Amazing how these things can just pop up.  The place is barren still, and I imagine it is going to be totally packed in the summer with boats and fishermen everywhere, but today there was hardly anyone around and it was lovely, though a bit windy.

And now I have finished the first draft of Journey of a Thousand Truths.  Done!  Raventower 2 will go through one more fast edit and it will be done.  Two more flash fiction pieces and Saving Everywhere will be complete.

Okay, so that all sounds like I've really been productive after all.

April 24, 2017

The massive headache has mutated into the worst cold I've had in years.  This is really awful. Curl up in bed stuff.  Ugh.

April 25, 2017

Yeah, still feeling lousy.  Very hard to sleep, to work, to get anything done.  The weather isn't helping.  Ugh.  Curling back up in bed.

April 26, 2017

Yes, still have the cold.  Meds are starting to make inroads on it, though.  Getting a bit more sleep and I can even manage to eat some soup.  Spring colds are miserable.

Okay, all colds are miserable.  With luck I am going to survive this one.

April 27, 2017

Even during this mutant cold from hell, I've been working on the rewrite of Circe's Gifts, which I think is my Wattpad novel.  It's a good YA book, and so far much better than I had expected.

The cold is not quite as bad though I am still horribly tired and congested.  I hope that it will just slip away.  I am absolutely worn out from it.

April 28, 2017

One last trip to the book sale.  More good stuff.  It was fun.  I'd been feeling lousy most of the day, so that was a nice change.

Work is going fine.  I'm a bit stuck on some small stuff for Raventower 2, but I think I'll have it pulled together soon.

April 29, 2017

The odd news today is that after almost a year, I finally got access back to my Twitter account.  I's been so long I can't even think what I want to do with it now.  LOL.  I'm sure I'll figure it out.

It might snow tomorrow.  Great.  my lilacs are just not going to survive, I know it.  Yeah, snow over night on the last day of April, the first day of May.  Spring would be nice again.

The cold hasn't completely left me, either.

I'm ready for better weather.

April 30, 2017

I didn't do as well as I had hoped this month, but considering how ill I've been, I can't complain.  May will be a good month for publishing.  I am determined that it will be.

And maybe for art and photography, a bit of music -- all kinds of things.  We have reached spring.  This is much better.
